Day 3

Kupiškis - Riga: 165 km

After warming up a bit first two days we decided, that we could push it even a bit harder, and that it would be a good idea to reach Riga, the capital of Latvia, the same day. According to the map the distance should be around 160 km, but we managed to add 5 more km by cruising through towns on the way. The interesting fact about going north was that it was getting hotter and hotter. The weather improved, although we hadn't had any rainy cycling before. The scenery slowly changed from wast flat fields to wast flat forests. There were parts of the roads going straight for several kilometres. This boring straight lines enabled us to average some distances with over 30 km/h, which is pretty decent for 50 kg bicycle.
After 165 km, probably my personal record, in a day we reached the Riga City Camping. Needless to say, we were exhausted. But that didn't stop us from going to check out the night life in town till the very next morning. From unknown reason we were in a mood to party. This could only mean one thing - next day is going to be a rest day.

Day 2

Moletai - Kupiškis 105 km

After trying the local roads, we decided to avoid them in the future. But... One wrong turn, and we were back at unpaved road for 30 km. Surprisingly, we even got to 6% up/down hills. Riding a bike towards a storm has never been so interesting. We were eager to try our waterproof gear, but to our astonishment the road turned left just in front the dark clouds, so we remained dry until the evening. So, from now on, we're sticking to the main roads.

Day 1

Vilnious - Moletai: 85 km

After few days in Vilnius we were eager to start cycling. So in early afternoon we finally started cycling towards the north without any real plan. Before reaching the city limits we met a local cyclist who suggested us the way and also gave us some contacts from people in Riga, Latvia for a possibility of camping in their garden.

We were suggested to take the main road towards Riga, but after few km we decided to try smaller local roads. It turned out that is not the best decision, since most of them are unpaved and sandy. After few adjustments to the bikes we reached the Geographical midpoint of Europe (well at least one of them), where we symbolically started our journey. It was also the point of first bike problem - my bike stand was simply too weak for all the weight.

We decided to set up a tent at around 6 pm, on the fields not far from the town Moletai.
